These groups are very excited....to do a 3 to 7 day pack trip through the Colorado State Forest State Park.
The group sends 2 counselors of their own, while Red Feather sends 2 guides along. Each rider is assigned their own horse and keeps that horse for the duration of the trip.

These trips have become quite popular! Most riders have previous experience with horses as well as participating at their summer camp horse program.
|
During these trips, the riders get some great experience setting up camp, getting water, working together and working with their horse. We have found if the group brings & prepares their-own meals, it seems to keep the cost more affordable.

We move camp at least once depending on time. The horses will get turned out to eat after a long day, then put on a picket line each night. Early in the morning, the guides will turn the horses out (with help ? if anyone is up), once breakfast has finished, the riders will pick hooves, brush horses, saddle, bridle and get horses ready for their ride that day.
Each day the riders will ride to a different lake or a scenic view like no other. These riders put in a lot of hard work even before riding, I think they would agree it is so rewarding? !

This is a mule named Billy. Strongest mule we've known! Just a friendly competition to see how many can get on Billy, and stay on even for a few seconds! Before they all roll off laughing.
